The new AES export system

Important information

When exporting goods from Sweden, there are three important steps to follow. Step 2 IE507 and Step 3 IE590 is crucial to complete the export. In addition, it is important that the export declaration from step 1 (IE515) accompanies the transport all the way.

What is IE507?

Step 2, IE507 is a notification made to the Swedish Customs when the goods arrive at the point where they are to leave the EU customs territory. This step ensures that the goods are approved to leave the EU.

Who does this?
It is usually the carrier or freight forwarder who is responsible for sending in IE507.

What is IE590?

Step 3, IE590 is the final notification in the export process and confirms that the goods have actually left the EU customs territory. When IE590 has been submitted, the exporter will receive confirmation from the Swedish Customs (IE599) that the export has been completed. Who does this? Just like before IE507 is it normally the carrier or freight forwarder who handles IE590.

Why are these steps important?

If steps 2 and 3 are not handled correctly:

  • Can the goods be stopped and not allowed to leave the EU?
  • The export is not completed, which can lead to administrative problems for the exporter.

To avoid this, it is important to:

  1. The export declaration Step 1 (IE515) accompanies the transport the entire way.
  2. The carrier or freight forwarder submits both IE507 and IE590.
