IE590 – STEP 3

Step 3 in Sweden's new export system: IE590 – Notification of the export of goods

As the final step in Sweden's new export system, the IE590 message is used to confirm that goods have left the EU customs territory. After the export declaration (IE515) has been approved and the goods have been presented to the customs office of exit (IE507), the IE590 ensures that the export process is completed correctly. Once the IE590 has been submitted and approved, the Swedish Customs sends back the IE599 message, confirming that the export has been fully completed.

What is message IE590?

Message IE590 is used to notify Customs that goods have left the customs territory of the EU. It is the carrier or the person responsible for the freight who sends this message to the customs office of exit. This step is necessary to confirm that the export has been carried out in accordance with customs requirements.

Key parts of IE590

  • Reference to previous steps in the export process, especially the MRN number from IE515.
  • Transport and departure details.
  • Confirmation that the goods have actually left the EU borders.

Once a correct IE590 has been submitted and approved by the customs office of exit, the Swedish Customs sends back the message IE599. This is an official confirmation that the entire export process is complete.

The relationship between IE590, IE515, IE507 and IE599

IE590 is the third and penultimate step in the export process. It is based on:

  • An IE515 (export declaration) that has been approved and released.
  • An IE507 (declaration of goods upon exit) that has been registered at the customs office of exit.

After the IE590 has been submitted, the Swedish Customs sends back an IE599. This final message serves as a receipt that the export has been fully completed and that the customs procedure has been completed.

Frequently asked questions about IE590 and IE599

Who is responsible for submitting IE590?

IE599 is a message sent back by Customs when they have approved an IE590. It serves as a receipt that the export process is fully completed.

If IE590 is not submitted, the export will be considered incomplete. This may lead to administrative problems and the export not being officially recognized.
