With customs advice, you get an answer to your customs question before it becomes a claim for back duty. If rules, agreements or duty rates change, you can ask us what that means for your goods specifically.
What the advisory is
Ongoing support on individual customs questions, from someone who sees how the question connects to the rest of your handling.
Most errors in customs handling go unnoticed when they are made. A proof of origin that does not hold up in a check, a customs value calculated on the wrong amount or a permit never applied for comes to light only when Swedish Customs asks, and by then the question often covers several years back.

- Whether the goods meet the origin rules in an agreement, which proof applies, and what you must be able to show afterwards.

- Which permits from Swedish Customs are worth applying for in your flow, and what they require of you.
- Customs value
- How the value should be calculated, and what counts towards it beyond the invoice amount.

- What a new regulation, duty rate or agreement means for your goods, not for trade in general.

We answer the question you ask, but we also say when it connects to something else. Questions about origin often turn out to be questions about the commodity code, because origin rules are written per product group.

How it works
You get in touch with the question and the material that belongs to it. We answer in writing when the answer needs to be shown to someone, and by phone when that is faster. If the question needs research we say so rather than guess.
If a decision from Swedish Customs is needed to settle the question, such as a binding tariff information, we apply for it on your behalf.

Common questions
How is this different from a consultation?
Advisory is ongoing and question driven. You get in touch when something comes up and get an answer to that question. A consultation is a defined engagement where we go through the whole goods flow and deliver a written summary.
Can you tell us whether our goods are covered by a free trade agreement?
Yes, but it requires knowing what the goods consist of and where the components come from. Origin rules differ between agreements and between product groups, and the answer cannot be given from the product name alone.
We have had a letter from Swedish Customs. Can you help?
Yes. Send the letter and the declarations it concerns, and we will go through what is being asked and what the evidence actually shows before you reply. That applies both to reviews and to audits.
Do you have to handle our declarations to advise us?
No. The advisory stands on its own. Many use us for individual questions without us filing the declarations, and that works well.
