Frequently asked questions
What do you need from me?
Usually just the invoice. From it we can see the exporter, the consignee, the goods and the quantities. If something is missing, such as packages or weight, we ask. A packing list helps.
What is a Certificate of Origin?
A certificate showing which country the goods come from. Some importing countries require it, and banks and buyers may ask for it. It is issued by the Chamber of Commerce and is non-preferential, so it does not lower the duty. More in our guide to certificates of origin.
What does it cost?
You get a price before anything is submitted. The first time, we send you a draft of the certificate and a quote to approve.
How long does it take?
The Chamber of Commerce normally processes the application within one working day. We submit it as soon as it is complete and approved.
The goods have already been shipped. Is that still possible?
Usually. Mention it in the message and we state "Issued retrospectively" in the application. Procedures differ between chambers, and we may need proof that the goods have been shipped.
Do I need an EUR.1 instead?
If the goods are to get a lower duty in the importing country under a free trade agreement, you need an EUR.1 certificate. A Certificate of Origin only shows the origin. If you are unsure, say so in the message and we will help.
