Are the HS code, CN code and TARIC code the same thing?
They are the same code at different lengths. The HS code has six digits and is the same worldwide. The CN code has eight and is used for exports from the EU. The TARIC code has ten and is used in the import declaration.
Who is responsible for the code being right?
The importer, even when a customs broker makes the declaration. The suggestions here are a starting point. We are happy to confirm the code, and in difficult cases Swedish Customs can issue a binding tariff information decision.
Why does the search ask about material or use?
Because it often decides the code. A leather bag and a plastic bag fall under different numbers, and the same machine can be classified differently depending on what it is used for.
